The 2000 MCI 102EL3 Renaissance Series, made by Motor Coach Industries (MCI) was, a 54 seat bus, weighing 42,720 pounds (test weight). The Motor Coach crashed into the barrier at 30.36 mph, with 22 instrumented crash dummies (belted and unbelted). Several on and off board high-speed cameras documented the crash test event. Over 400 data channels were recorded at 12,500 Hz. VRTC is a federal research facility located onsite at TRC (the Center). The staff conducts research and vehicle testing in support of NHTSAs mission to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care, and other economic costs.
