This is The Evolution of Nintendo Music, which goes all the way up from the NES to the Wii (Note that for arrangement purposes, we decided to go by system rather than strictly chronologically). When we first saw "The Video Game Rock Medley" by FreddeGredde, we thought to ourselves "why isn't there MORE stuff like this out there?" So, right then and there, New Game Plus was born, and we started creating this medley. The final product turned out to be 22 songs packed into 9 minutes of phenomenal music! Enjoy. Song timestamps (spoilers ahead!): NES: 0:00 - Overworld Theme (Super Mario Bros 2) 0:07 - Dr. Wily's Castle (MegaMan 2) 0:26 - Fever (Dr. Mario) 0:53 - Vampire Killer (Castlevania) 1:19 - Excitebike Title Theme (Excitebike) SNES: 1:28- Jungle Japes (Donkey Kong Country) 2:02 - Gourmet Race (Kirby Super Star) 2:25 - Yearnings of the Wind (Chrono Trigger) N64: 2:51 - Facility (GoldenEye 007) 3:19 - Gerudo Valley (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) 3:51 - Grunty's Furnace Fun (Banjo Kazooie) 4:23 - Majora's Theme (The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask) 4:58 - Diddy Kong Racing Title Theme (Diddy Kong Racing) Game Boy: 5:23 - Trainer Battle (Pokémon) 5:48 - Theme A (Tetris) GameCube: 6:04 - Gamecube startup (Gamecube) 6:12 - Metroid Prime Title Theme (Metroid Prime) 6:44 - Menu 1 (Super Smash Bros Melee) Wii: 7:15 - Wii Shopping Channel Theme (Wii System Music) 7:38 - Green Greens (Kirby's Epic Yarn) 8:04 - Hyrule Field Theme (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) 8:47 - Zelda's Lullaby (Various Legend of Zelda games) And of course shout outs to the spectacular composers that have come up with these various themes, without you video game music (and music in general for that matter) would not be the same today. It sounds emotional. | 2010-03-10T17:37:51Z | jerrestorms | Oh tonight I'm feeling fine I'm alone just wasting time No friday movie nights, or romantic candlelight I'm just having conversations With the thoughts in my head All I hear are angels crying Oh won't they just sing instead It would be wrong for me to say Chorus I don't need that girl by my side I don't need that girl in my life I don't want to talk it out Or hold her when she cries I don't want to say she's my kind I don't want to say that she's mine I don't want to tell her that I love her more than life More than life... I love her more than life Honestly, this won't do How is she doing? I tell myself that I'm feeling swell But I know I'm such a fool I can take it as a new beginning But you know I don't feel that way Who will take all this pain away? I know it's wrong for me to say Chorus I don't need that girl by my side I don't need that girl in my life I don't want to talk it out Or hold her when she cries I don't want to say she's my kind I don't want to say that she's mine I don't want to tell her that I love her more than life More than life... I love her more than life... Talk about a sin Was the day I walked Into the other side I would run back in I wouldn't waste no time I know it's wrong for me to say Chorus I don't need that girl by my side I don't need that girl in my life I don't want to talk it out Or hold her when she cries I don't want to say she's my kind I don't want to say that she's mine I don't want to tell her that I love her more than life More than life... Raised in a working-class African-American neighbourhood on the north side of the highly segregated city of St. Louis, Berry grew up in a family proud of its African-American and Native-American ancestry. He gained early exposure to music through his family's participation in the choir of the Antioch Baptist Church, through the blues and country-western music he heard on the radio, and through music classes, especially at Sumner High School. Berry was still attending high school when he was sent to serve three years for armed robbery at a Missouri prison for young offenders. After his release and return to St. Louis, he worked at an auto plant, studied hairdressing, and played music in small nightclubs. Berry traveled to Chicago in search of a recording contract; Muddy Waters directed him to the Chess brothers. Leonard and Phil Chess signed him for their Chess label, and in 1955 his first recording session produced Maybellene (a country-and-western-influenced song that Berry had originally titled Ida Red), which stayed on the pop charts for 11 weeks, cresting at number five. Berry followed this success with extensive tours and hit after hit, including Roll Over Beethoven (1956), School Day (1957), Rock and Roll Music (1957), Sweet Little Sixteen (1958), Johnny B. Goode (1958), and Reelin' and Rockin' (1958). His vivid descriptions of consumer culture and teenage life, the distinctive sounds he coaxed from his guitar, and the rhythmic and melodic virtuosity of his piano player (Johnny Johnson) made Berry's songs staples in the repertoire of almost every rock-and-roll band. At the peak of his popularity, federal authorities prosecuted Berry for violating the Mann Act, alleging that he transported an underage female across state lines for immoral purposes.
