Badke: KVS/les ballets C de la B/A.M. Qattan Foundation (c) Zaina Zarour | The low quality recording features a folk song that consists of an echoing male chant over punchy kick and snare hits, wooden percussion, addictive strings and brass melodies and simple bass. It sounds traditional, addictive, passionate and energetic. The recording is noisy and in mono. | 2014-04-25T11:45:31Z | balletsCdelaB | In 2006, KVS, les ballets C de la B and the A.M. Qattan Foundation launched a series of workshops with young Palestinian performing artists. Now, Koen Augustijnen, Rosalba Torres (les ballets C de la B) and Hildegard De Vuyst (KVS) present the dance production Badke, for which they work with ten Palestinian performers, young autodidacts from various disciplines including contemporary dance, hip hop, circus, etc. The term 'badke' is a distortion of 'dabke', a Palestinian folk dance. The performance starts out from the popular variant: the people's social, festive dabke. The performers go on to confront this locally rooted dance with elements from worldwide pop (dance) culture. Badke becomes a quest for a dabke that not only conveys the unique Palestinian desire to 'belong somewhere', but also the wish to be part of a world beyond that. | ["Bagpipes", "Wind instrument, woodwind instrument"] | ["low quality", "mono", "noisy", "folk", "echoing male chant", "punchy snare", "punchy kick", "addictive strings melody", "addictive brass melody", "traditional", "addictive", "passionate", "wooden percussions", "simple bass", "energetic"] | 4 | kMmjr8deHis | 4312
Julie Fowlis playing Bagpipe - Live | The song is an instrumental. The song is fast in tempo, with a bagpiper playing a Solo melody accompanied by a drum rhythm and people cheering and clapping wildly. The song is rousing in spirit and fervour. The song has a bad audio quality. | 2009-09-05T09:48:05Z | smartotrams | Live at Lüdenscheid, Germany 4th Sept 2009 | ["Bagpipes", "Wind instrument, woodwind instrument"] | ["female bagpiper", "bagpipes playing", "live performance", "live audience", "crowds clapping", "crowds cheering", "drum playing percussively", "exciting solo", "passionate", "celtic music", "war cry", "victory march", "bad audio quality", "ambient crowd noise", "performer", "instrumental music", "exciting", "energetic", "enthusiastic", "groovy bass", "rhythm section", "medium fast tempo"] | 1 | 0NTzOtVmoiU | 154
Tartanic-Thunderstruck | This is a Scottish folk music rendition of a rock music piece. It is an instrumental piece. The Scottish bagpipes are playing the melody while the rhythmic background is provided by a bodhran frame drum. The atmosphere is energetic and lively. The audio quality of the piece is quite poor. Still, it could be used in a comedy movie as a song playing from the radio. | 2010-07-26T03:30:40Z | WolvenDance | The fabulous Tartanic performing a bit of "Thunderstruck." The piper is the very talented Elijah Woolcott. | ["Bagpipes", "Wind instrument, woodwind instrument"] | ["scottish folk music", "live performance", "instrumental", "live performance", "scottish bagpipes", "bodhran", "energetic", "lively"] | 9 | l-RdHtsYWBY | 4368 |
