Harmonica: Tongue Block vs. Pucker | This music is a lively harmonica instrumental. The tempo is medium with a spirited melody. The music is lively, clear, energetic, vibrant and breezy with a male voice at the end of the audio clip. This is probably a Harmonica tutorial. | 2006-11-05T01:45:40Z | 12gagedan | This is my 2cents (or 5 minutes) added to the old debate of TB vs. Pucker embuochure when playing the harmonica. My take is very "end justifies the means" and don't limit yourself or worry about myths. (I believed for a very long time that bending and TB was impossible) The bottom line is: achieve the sound you want by working towards good tone with either approach. Apologies to all U-Blockers, as I'm not very good with that. | ["Harmonica", "Wind instrument, woodwind instrument"] | ["instrumental", "medium tempo", "harmonica melody", "male voice speaking", "vibrant", "energetic", "enthusiastic", "playful", "loud", "lucid", "mouth organ", "free reed instrument", "wind instrument", "folk music", "aerophone", "french harp", "blues harp", "tuneful", "melodious"] | 7 | _94ra2KoZGo | 3447
Harmonica Basics V - Learn how to play the harmonica notes, 1st position, | Someone is playing high single long notes on a harmonica along to a metronome sound. Then a male voice starts speaking. This audio may be playing as a harmonica tutorial. | 2012-10-31T06:50:33Z | FunkyHarp | Please sign up for my free newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/Gry_n And like me on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/playatharmonica Hi, I'm Lucas "Playa T" Clebsch, and the two most important points I want to get across in this video, "Harmonica Basics 5 - How to play the harmonica notes, and the major scale, middle octave, 1st position" 1.) The 2 draw and 3 blow holes are the same note on any diatonic harmonica 3.) The tuning of the harmonica is such that the draw notes are higher than blow notes on holes 1-6, and, conversely, the draw notes are lower than the blow notes on holes 7-10 The beginning of this free harmonica lesson deals with these items, and then I blow each harmonica note on the harp for four counts along with a metronome set at 90 BPM so that a beginner can play along through all of the holes on the harmonica, making sure it sounds the same as mine (if you are having trouble telling whether or not you are successfully isolating notes.) Then, with the metronome set at 90BPM, I play through the major scale on the middle octave of the harmonica on whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, and finally on eighth notes. Again, the idea is that you can play along with me and work on your middle octave 1st position major scale on your C Harp. This is a great exercise to start developing dexterity to play harmonica music.. Here is the 1st position major scale harmonica tabs in c: 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7 o i o i o i i o 7 7 6 6 5 5 4 4 o i i o i o i o Notice how you have to change the order of blow and draw on the harmonica when you go from hole number 6 to hole number 7. This is something you're going to want to get really comfortable with in your harmonica playing. Alec Fraser- Brushbass-part one | This audio contains someone plucking a simple bassline on an upright bass while you can hear a percussive brushing sound. Then the playing stops and a male voice starts speaking. This song may be playing in a video-tutorial. | 2007-07-06T00:54:49Z | Magublican TV | Alec Fraser http://www.biggiolarecords.com/alecfraser.html I played bass in The Jeff Healey Band for his last eight years. He was a great friend and bandleader. If you have something nice to comment on Jeff, feel free.I'm also a part of an acoustic trio called Brokenjoe. http://www.brokenjoe.com/music http://www.myspace.com/brokenjoemusic Here`s a wacky little contraption that I put together that allows me to play a beat while playing the stand up bass using a snare brush through my fingers. Lightning Chance and Ernie Newton amongst others used to use something similar back in the 40`s & 50`s on the Grand Old Opry shows when they wouldn`t allow drummers there. Theirs was a big old skin with a frame permanently screwed right to the belly of the bass, I didn`t want to do that because it would obstruct me from going up the neck if need be. My addition to this was to come up with a quick removable one that had more tension to it like a real snare and to also put in a condenser mic/pre amp that I can send to the P.A at festival gigs.It takes a while to get the hang of the brush being through the fingers but it`s worth it. At first I used it all night on duo and trio gigs playing every kind of music just to get the hang of it but now I`ll just pull it out for two or three songs a set for effect. It`s volume is turned up higher on this video so you can hear its tone. Normally it would be a bit lower in level. Also you MUST roll of all of the bass and mid-range on the Gazinkey's mic and increase the the treble to almost maximun on the mixer channel. This will give you a snare brush sound with no thud. Unfortunately there isn`t much literature on these old pioneer bass players of Nashville and very few still doing this technique. If you know of anyone that does this brushbass style please put me in contact with them. I don`t use this in the Jeff Healey Band because we have Al "baby" Webster behind the kit but a trio like Brokenjoe has the perfect instrumentation with banjo, harmonica and bass where the chop comes i… | ["Cello", "Double bass", "Pizzicato", "Bowed string instrument"] | ["amateur recording", "upright bass", "brush sound", "male voice speaking", "medium tempo"] | 6 | tUSnod37b9Q | 5039
