Nicola Benedetti plays Bruch at the Last Night of the Proms 2012 | This is a live performance of a classical music piece. There is an orchestra performing the piece with a violin lead playing the main melody. The atmosphere is sentimental and heart-touching. This piece could be playing in the background at a classy restaurant. | 2012-09-10T19:04:24Z | ecodef | Violin concerto No. 1 in G minor, by Bruch soloist: Nicola Benedetti conductor: Jiri Belohlavek BBC Symphony Orchestra recorded @ the Royal Albert Hall, London (8 sept. 2012) | ["Music", "Musical instrument", "Violin, fiddle", "Classical music", "Bowed string instrument"] | ["classical music", "live performance", "orchestra", "violin", "sentimental", "heart-touching"] | 9 | XmMN-6g1L8w | 3222
Samuel Hoffman's RCA Theremin | This is a classical music performance. There is a gentle piano tune playing in the background while there is a theremin playing the main melody. The performance has a unique feel to it. The atmosphere is out of the ordinary but also heart-touching. This piece could be used in the soundtrack of an animation movie/TV series. | 2007-07-15T11:34:12Z | Peter Pringle | Dr. Samuel Hoffman took his 1929 RCA theremin with him when he moved from New York City to Los Angeles, California, in 1941. He eventually became world famous as "The Hollywood Thereminist" and the distinctive sound of his instrument can be heard on the soundtracks of over 40 major motion pictures of the 1940's and 50's. Alfred Hitchcock's SPELLBOUND (music by Miklos Rosza), the SciFi classic THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (music by Bernard Herrmann) and Cecile B. deMille's perennial THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, are just a few of the movies in which this theremin can be heard. I acquired this unique vintage instrument from the Hoffman family in 1998 and have carefully maintained it and enjoyed playing it ever since. It sounds today just the way it sounded when the late Dr. Hoffman played it at the "Casino In The Air" on top of mid-town Manhattan's Hotel Montclair in the 1930's. In order to give the camera a better view of the inside, for the purpose of this video, I removed the two cabinet doors (which normally remain closed). I am playing French chanteuse Edith Piaf's hit from the 1940's, LA VIE EN ROSE. | ["Music", "Musical instrument", "Theremin"] | ["classical music", "no singer", "instrumental", "piano", "theremin", "emotional", "unique", "eccentric", "heart-touching"] | 9 | nIL_xrqjo1g | 4530
Bach Cello Suite no. 1 Prelude Baritone Saxophone | This is a classical music piece performed on a baritone saxophone. The tone of the baritone saxophone resembles a cello sound. There is a tender feel to the melody being played. The atmosphere is heart-touching. This piece would fit perfectly in the soundtrack of a documentary with serene scenes such as a birdlife documentary. | 2010-03-19T04:30:34Z | sklrjkt | ::EDIT:: For everyone asking about sheet music, I bought a book with all 6 Suites for Cello, as in written in bass clef, and transposed them by sight. No, I will not send you a copy of it. Buy sheet music to help keep publishers in business!!! Recorded this on March 18th, 2010 over spring break. Have been meaning to post a recording of the Prelude for a while, and since I got some new microphones (2 MXL 993 Microphones) I figured it was a good opportunity to do so. Before yesterday (the 18th) it had been a few months since I'd played it, so it is a bit rough in a few parts. Also, I toyed with putting some reverb on it since the room I was in was not exactly ideal, but it tended to just muddy it up so what is heard is the completely clean signal. I was pretty happy with the result of this, and the microphones were definitely worth the money I paid for them. Hope you all enjoy! Here was my setup: -2 MXL 993 microphones -Tascam US-122 Interface -Recorded on my Mac in Audacity -Built-in Mac Camera (because my other cams battery was dead -__-;;;) | ["Brass instrument", "Saxophone"] | ["classical music", "amateur recording", "instrumental", "single instrument", "baritone saxophone", "cello-like sound", "tender", "heart-touching"] | 9 | pXz67syyse0 | 4718 |
