Then learn to play it in other keys. Learn the blues shuffle in the key of E and the key of A. If you are playing slide learn to tune in open D and open G. Then learn the major and minor scales in the open tunings. Listen to blues music and get the feel for it. Realize that the music is best when you FEEL IT!!! My steel guitar has relatively high action but my Gibson, which I also use for slide does not. Here are some ideas for you. When sliding learn to be gentle with your touch, especially when action is not high. Always play the note directly over the fret with the slide. When you slide within a fret be accurate so that the slider stays within the fret. Lastly, practice each part of the technique by itself. Once you have a technique down then play it in conjunction with your other chords and techniques. You are practicing the techniques and THEN the songs. And Folk folks like Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger. \n\nBeginners tips\n\nThis is my take on how to learn Guitar for beginners. \nI also think these ideas relate to anything \nyou wish to learn.  \n\nStart slowly. Break down the playing into pieces. For example, tuning the guitar, Strumming, Picking, playing a scale, using a flat pick, using finger picks, riffs, licks, patterns, eventually songs. Practice each piece by itself. Then put the pieces together. \n\nGoogle Spaced repetition and use it to learn guitar and everything else. It essentially says that learning, say a scale, is better done in 20 one minute sessions than one 20 minute session. \n\nChoose your style. For example, Blues, Rock, Heavy Mental, Jazz, Folk, Country. Your Choice.\n\nGet a guitar that matches your style choice. \n\nUse the internet to get lessons in Your Style or get lessons from a real person. Listen and watch the masters of the chosen style.\n\nListen to music you love just before practicing.\n\nMAKE IT FUN. FEEL THE MUSIC and make that part of your learning process. I honestly recommend using a deep breathing technique as part of the learning process.  Breathe in through the nose and count to four. Breathe out through your mouth and count to six. Repeat. Note the feeling. Calms your mind and body and helps you focus on the job at hand. \n\nFocus your attention on the process you use and the details of your current stage.\n\nRealize that you are building muscle memory. Focus on the movement and help it become automatic. Practice air guitar, seriously, it helps develop the muscle memory.\n\nJournal your daily activity.\n\nFocus on the beat. Try open D tuning. It makes it easier.  Make it fun. It is a joy to learn and it should never be a burden!!! Count 1 2 3 4 as you pluck or pick.\n\nSing what you are playing. This can be done with the mouth or just in the brain. Singing it easily connects your mind and body to the guitar.\n\nPractice everyday or every other day, but commit to practice. All the device needs is a set of two AAA batteries which come with the purchase. The battery life of the amPlugs is really good to begin with, but with the new feature \u2013 which we will cover in a bit \u2013 it\u2019s now even better.  \nWith this new generation of mini headphone guitar amplifiers, Vox introduced a number or significant improvements regarding the features and functionality.\n\nFirst of all, the Vox amPlug 2 CR \u2013 as well as all other models of the second generation \u2013 comes with a jack that swivels. This allows to easily adjust the position of the device. As demonstrated in the video, with the previous version there was a limited range of mobility. This is now completely resolved.\n\nThe Vox amPlug 2 CR mini headphone amp comes with an \u201cAuto Power-Off\u201d.  So, after 30 minutes of inactivity the device powers off automatically. This is great, because now the batteries last even longer, even in the event that you forget to turn the amplug off.\n\nAnother cool feature of the Vox amPlug 2 Classic Rock, AC30 and Metal models is the FX button. By pressing the FX-button, you can chose between Chorus, Delay and Reverb. \n\nThe power-on button serves a dual purpose. Of course, this is where you turn the Vox amPlug 2 Classic Rock headphone amp on and off \u2013 however, via this button you can also add a mi-level and high-level boost for some extra punch and heaviness.\nThe rest is pretty much the same. Of course, there is the three dials for Volume, Tone and Gain. You also have an AUX input jack to connect an iPhone or an MP3 player. Other than that, the built and design is strongly aligned to the predecessor models.  The device is light, but the plastic hard-case forgives falls and other little accidents.\n\nHere are a few other questions I get all the time. Does the Vox amPlug 2 Classic Rock fit on a Strat? Yes, no problems, because the jack can be swiveled into any position of your choice. Can the Vox amPlug 2 CR connect to a guitar pedal or an amp? Sure, not an issue. The first performance under the title Music for percussion and Keyboards was given at the Centre Pompidou in Paris on 19 December 1984 by Nexus with guest artists playing keyboards. The last movement was then revised in January 1985 and the title shortened to Sextet. The American premiere was presented by Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians at Brooklyn Academy of Music\u2019s New Wave Festival on 31 October 1985 as the music for Ms. Dean\u2019s Impact. The American concert premiere by Steve Reich and Musicians was performed on the Great performers Series at Avery Fisher Hall on 20 January 1986. Sextet (1985) for 4 percussionists and 2 keyboard players is score for 3 marimbas, 2 vibraphones, 2 bass drums, crotales, sticks, tam-tam, 2 pianos and 2 synthesizers. The duration is about 28 minutes.\n\nThe work is in five movements played without pause. The relationship of the five movements is that of an arch form A-B-C-B-A. The first and last movements are fast, the second and fourth moderate and the third, slow. Changes of tempo are made abruptly at the beginning of new movements by metric modulation to either get slower or faster. Movements are also organized harmonically wit the chord cycle for the first and fifth, another for the second and fourth, and yet another for the third. The harmonies used are largely dominant chords with added tones creating a somewhat darker, chromatic and more varied harmonic language were suggested by The Desert Music (1984). \n\nPercussion instruments mostly produce sounds of relatively short duration. In this piece I was interested in overcoming that limitation. The use of the bowed vibraphone, not merely as a passing effect, but as a basic instrumental voice in the second movement, was one means of getting long continuous sounds not possible with piano. The mallet instruments (marimba, vibraphone etc) are basically instruments of high and middle register without a low range. To overcome this limit the bass drum was used doubling the piano or synthesizer played in their lower register, particularly in the second, third and fourth movements.\n\nCompositional techniques used include some introduced in my music as early as Drumming in 1971. In particular the substitution of beats for rests to \"build-up\" a canon between two or more identical instruments playing the same repeating pattern is used extensively in the first and last movements. Sudden change of rhythmic position (or phase) of one voice in an overall repeating contrapuntal web first occurs in my Six Pianos of 1973 and occurs throughout this work. Double canons, where one canon moves slowly (the bowed vibraphones) and the second moves quickly (the pianos), first appear in my music in Octet of 1979. Techniques influenced by African music, where the basic ambiguity in meters of 12 beats is between 3 groups of 4 and 4 groups of 3, appear in the third and fifth movements. A rhythmically ambiguous pattern is played by vibraphones in the third movement, but at a much faster tempo. The result is to change the perception of what is in fact not changing.
