I've used the TR 808 for close to 12 years on almost every production I've been involved with. I know the sound in and out. The AIRA is incredibly close to the original 808 but there are certain differences. Chiefly I cannot tune the AIRA to my 808 in terms of the cymbals and hi hats. The AIRA seems much higher in pitch. There are more minute differences that when stacked up definitely reveal what's a real analog workhorse and what is digital but all that aside, Roland have to be commended for this achievement. There are few digital instruments that sound as good as the Aira range and that have the kind of tactile user interface that's present here. \n\nWe recorded the 808 and the TR8 into Pro Tools HD at 96k/24 bit via a Precision 8 mic pre. Each sound was tracked independently and then general levels worked out in Pro Tools. There is no compression or EQ present here at all ... these are the machines completely dry. The video starts with non accented versions of the instruments and then moves to accented versions.", "musiccaps_names": "[\"Sampler\", \"Music\", \"Musical instrument\", \"Drum machine\", \"Synthesizer\"]", "musiccaps_aspects": "[\"hip hop music\", \"medium tempo\", \"amateur production\", \"home production\", \"instruments\", \"music\", \"steady drumming rhythm\", \"various percussion hits\", \"dj\", \"dance floor\", \"dance rhythm\", \"spirited\", \"entertaining\", \"instrumental music\", \"positive\", \"people dancing\", \"groovy bass line\", \"keyboard synth tones\"]", "musiccaps_author": "1", "youtube_id": "6-XEA0zqo8M", "musiccaps_rowid": 713} {"video": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cQjwXNY4sc&start=30&end=40", "youtube_link": "{\"label\":\"Spliff Boy (N.B.T. See (http://www.studioscratches.com/hamster-reverse-vs-regular-scratching/)\n\nDJ Short-e teaches you how to do the Chirp scratch. Named because it sounds like a bird chirping away, this scratch is attained by playing the sample forwards and cutting the end of the sample off, then bringing the record back and turning the fader on. Repeat.\n\nYou probably heard DJ Premier use this scratch loads and it can be really funky. Although relatively simple you can achieve much with this scratch, combining it with flares for the chirp flare.\n\nBeat # 8528 used in this clip is available here:\n\nhttp://studioscratches.bandcamp.com/album/85-bpm-hip-hop-instrumental-beats\n\nHappy Scratching! :D", "musiccaps_names": "[\"Scratching (performance technique)\", \"Music\"]", "musiccaps_aspects": "[\"dj\", \"instrumental music\", \"medium tempo\", \"scratch tutorials\", \"dj lessons online\", \"scratching disc tones\", \"vinyls\", \"piano accompaniment\", \"screaming josies\", \"disc scarring tones\", \"syncopated rhythms\", \"steady drumming rhythm\", \"percussive bass line\", \"youthful\", \"positive\", \"cheerful\", \"dj face off\", \"techno dance music\", \"slow dance\", \"couples dancing\", \"dance floor\", \"dance club\", \"keyboard accompaniment\"]", "musiccaps_author": "1", "youtube_id": "Kojo5khAAS0", "musiccaps_rowid": 2121}
