The melody fades out in the beginning and it starts playing again in the second part of the loop, where it has an echoing effect on. It gives off psychedelic vibes. I don't own an El Capistan myself, but a guy I know, Wouter (WtrPlyr), and I got together to set up this concept and compare some of the tape delays I have to the El Capistan, which is a tape delay modeler/emulator (a very nice one and the best out there, in stompbox format, that is). We used the DigiTech JamMan Stereo and recorded a dry loop every time and routed that through the El Capistan and the RE-501 - both of them were in a true bypass looper (RJM Music Effects Gizmo). You be the own judge of which one you prefer. I, personally, prefer the RE-501, which is one of my favorite tape delays. I prefer its natural modulation (I don't mean the Chorus, to be clear) and its reverbish character. I find the El Capistan to be a little muffled and dark, in comparison. But hey, that's my taste. I still really enjoy it and I might pick one up in the future.
