La protección tradicional contra ataques con piedras, martillos y bujías es la película de poliéster adherida a la parte interna del vidrio original.  Vienen de diferentes espesores y calidades. Este polímero lo desarrolló Dupont para que los fabricantes de cristales en la Florida cumplieran con los nuevos códigos de construcción contra los efectos de los huracanes.

Este nuevo vidrio tiene un espesor dos veces mayor al original pero ofrece protección efectiva contra numerosos  golpes.  Aun después de fracturado el 

Sentryglas® se mantiene firme evitando que los delincuentes lo puedan empujar hacia adentro.
